THINGS PEOPLE COULD DONATE OR CONTRIBUTE

  1. We need to put up a permanent classrooms for Primary section that should have an assembly hall, a dining hall, a library and administration rooms. The strength that we have is that we have land where to put up these structures and we also have a brick making machine ( manual ) that can make a brick at about $0.3 on site.
  2. We need to construct waterborne toilets, we are still using pit latrines that are condemned in an urban set up.
  3. We need to buy and install rain harvest water tanks. The school spends alot on metered water. 2 tanks each of 10,000 litres are required each at $954. This would cut on the expenditure on water and thus a saving.
  4. A piggery project. We feel this would be done on a commercial basis as an income generating project and also to be given to very poor families to improve their household income in order to sell the piglets and get money to maintain their children at our school in trying to fulfil the mission of the school. This would be combined with Rabbit rearing . These two multiply fast and need less land and are easy to sell. The rabbits would also improve nutrition of children at household level thus reducing on the rampant malnutrition. Chicken rearing would also be included to produce eggs for pupils at school . At least once in a week an egg would be served to every pupil and this is rarely done ( once in two months) It would also have a cow on zero grazing to provide milk. If milk can be mixed with maize porridge that is taken early in the morning, at break time and at 5pm in the evening, we would be spending less on treatment of common funny ailments and our pupils would be more healthy.
  5. School supplies total about $26 termly.
  6. School uniform that includes also a sweeter , one pair of shoes and stockings cost $29.
  7. Sponsoring a boarding pupils with all necessary basic materials and fees costs $41 monthly for 12 months.
  8. Buying a piglet of 2 months is $29.
  9. Sponsoring a day scholar is $14 per month for 12 months.
  10. Buying a Rabbit is $3.
  11. Animal rearing also teaches pupils to have hands on and gain skills and when they get to their home, it becomes easy to take care of whatever is at home. It also reduces on children going to stay on streets.
  12. As we train our pupils in various fields, our school also lacks public address systems. This would be used in church services, morning assemblies and during debating. This would improve on public speaking, English speaking and they would easily gain self confidence whenever in public and also acts a source of entertainment. This is estimated at $545.
  13. Because of unreliable electricity supply, a standby generator to guarantee lighting is necessary for the entire school of about 4 kv and it's about $1,630. Electricity by Solar can also be part of the alternate power and also of the same ammount.
  14. We need to acquire a piece of land separate from school in order to engage into productive agricultural business which can cost us $2800 and with this, we are sure of sustainability after one year of this project and would help to boost greatly the household income of our poor community thus breaking the vicious cycle of poverty.
  15. We would wish to have a volunteer programme from all over the World to in our School. Because of the nature of some homeless children that we have, our school does not close for holidays. We plan to have a simple house for those volunteers that would accommodate at least 4 at a time. This would also help us in community tourism and the rent collected from there would be an income to our school and thus assurance of sustainability.
